Get the Foxhole Story
Growing up on a farm in Altamont, Foxhole Coffee owner Julie Ridder developed a passion for agriculture early on. After completing her degree in Plant Sciences from the University of Manitoba, Ridder’s passion for coffee led her and her husband on a search for that undeniably good cup of coffee. Honeymooning in Costa Rica, they were searching for the absolute best… but it remained unfound. There was no match for their particular palettes, so they did the only thing they could do – they started a roasting company.
Just like any agricultural project, quality varies with the growing environment. Ridder values traits like experimentation, learning as you go, and trying new things… especially new flavours.
When she’s not running her business, Ridder homeschools her two sons. Fun fact- the blog posts on this website are written by them!
Foxhole Coffee is Ridder’s passion project. She has observed that people have fallen into a monotonous routine of mindless consumption rather than enjoyment, filling their coffee machines with off-brand grounds just so that they can sip themselves awake. Coffee is meant to be enjoyed, appreciated, and savoured. Beyond this, consumers are rarely aware of the origin of their brew, and that people’s livelihoods have gone into growing these beans, feeding their families through this art.
With every bean, Ridder is sharing this loving art with you and yours. So cheers!
